About Me

I am a 30+ year veteran of classroom teaching at the secondary (6-12) and college levels.  Since I purchased my first computer, an Apple II Plus in 1981, I have continued to be an early adopter of technology in my personal and professional life.  Specifics of my professional background can be found in my resume.  Although I have retired from my full time position in Education, I continue to strive to bring the benefits of technology to all ages.

Most of my activities center around  family and our house at Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia. We have 3 grown children with families of their own (6 grandchildren). I spend the rest of my time on fitness activities, family history, choral singing and church activities.

I also finally have been able to research my heritage, and discover a branch of the family in the Slovak Republic with whom there had been no contact for nearly 70 years. We visited them in 2008 as part of a vacation in Eastern Europe including a cruise down the Danube. Details are here

The events of WWII became important to me when I discovered my Dad's diary and album from his navy service. Using Dad's documents and photos I created a website as a Tribute to the Crew of the USS Philadelphia   Since posting the site I've been in contact with surviving crew members including two who remembered my Dad. I attended their 45th reunion in 2008 and hope to continue attending as long as they are held.

Bobby travels from Boston to visit his Virginia cousins twice a year.
Here they are at the Danville pool.

Summer 2009

The grandkids are growing up and can paddle around on their own.
A powerboat, 2 sailboats, a jetski and a paddleboat complete our "fleet."
