USS Philadelphia Plaque

This photo was provided
by Bill Kitcherman
in memory of his grandfather
Walter Mackin who served on
the Philadelphia 1944-1945.

It is believed that this plaque
once hung in the Captain's Office.

See Detail Below

During a 2007 visit to the Navy Museum in Washington DC with my oldest grandson, I discovered an account of the invasion at Anzio
that included the bronze plaque from the deck of the Philadelphia, complete with battle stars.
I hope to return there again with a better camera to capture the detail without the glare.
