When I found this article in a Philly Reunion album, it sparked a
          long forgotten memory for me.
My Dad told me that Dr. Ryan, the Chief Medical Officer, operated on
          his wrist onboard ship.
On October 20, 1957 I was a scared 10 year old having an emergency
appendectomy in Carbondale, PA while on vacation.
"Don't worry," said my Dad, "This is Dr. Ryan. He operated on me when
          we were on the Philadelphia."
