Nice - Castle Hill
Index - Europe
June 2019
Castle Hill, the highest altitude in Vieux Nice (92 meters above the sea level), is the location of the ruins of the former Chateau de Nice.
This vantage point provides views of the Promenade des Anglais, the Baie des Anges (west), the Port de Nice (at east), the city itself and the mountains beyond

View of Castle Hill from our beach
The first terrace of Castle Hill
There is an elevator (ascenseur) to the top of the hill but it was closed for renovation
So we walked the 500+ steps
Lovely pathways
More steps to climb beyond the terrace
According to the sign at right,
this is the "pedestrian gate and vaulted underpass"

The man made waterfall (Cascade Dijon) was built in 1885
Expect to get wet from the spray
Quite welcome on a summer's day
Views of the city, the ocean, the port and areas of the park
